The fatigue behaviour of quasi-isotropic carbon fibre reinforced epoxy
laminates under tension-tension cyclic loading is investigated. The a
coustic emission technique is used to monitor the different damage mec
hanisms activated throughout the fatigue life. Filtering of acoustic e
mission events is performed to reject the events attributed to frictio
n related mechanisms. After appropriate filtering of the AE data, the
fatigue damage process can be monitored in terms of cumulative AE coun
ts.
