Abstract
This paper describes the application of the complex image concept to t he quasi-TEM analysis of multiconductor coplanar waveguides (CPW). Som e troubles that arise when this technique is applied to conductor back ed structures are addressed and solved. A Galerkin scheme is used to s olve the integral equation for the slot electric field in a very effic ient manner: The employed basis functions account for edge singulariti es-so that the Galerkin matrix size is kept small-and lead to quasiana lytical expressions for the matrix entries. In this way, we have devel oped a very fast quasistatic solver for arbitrary CPW geometries that is suitable for CAD purposes. (C) 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
