Abstract
Intraperitoneal (ip) administration of salmon calcitonin (2.0 MRC unit /100gm body weight/day) in the intact Coturnix Caturnix Coturnix induc ed significant (P<0.02) hypocalcemia on day 15 which persisted till da y 21 (P<0.05). Plasma inorganic phosphate also exhibited significant ( P < 0.02) depression on day 15. The hypophosphatemic response of salmo n calcitonin increased further (P < 0.001) by day 21.
