Abstract
This article addresses the issues facing manual-based treatments by co nsidering six of the common misperceptions regarding flexibility, clin ical judgment, creativity, reification, comorbidity, and research vers us practice applicability. Each misperception is followed by a recomme ndation for research directions to discover the facts surrounding manu al-based treatments.
