Da. Parshin et al., ANALYSIS OF THE LOW-TEMPERATURE SPECIFIC-HEAT OF AMORPHOUS ASXSE1-X WITHIN THE SOFT-POTENTIAL MODEL, Zeitschrift fur Physik. B, Condensed matter, 93(1), 1993, pp. 57-62
The soft-potential model provides a description of the specific-heat a
nomaly of glasses, i.e. the linear specific heat C below 1 K and the m
aximum of C/T3 vs. T at temperatures T of a few K, by three material p
arameters, namely the mass density rho, the sound velocity v, and the
average atomic mass MBAR. The experimental results of AsxSe1-x are com
pared with theoretical predictions of this model. The overall good agr
eement suggests that the soft-potential model, which is an extension o
f the original tunneling model for glasses, describes the glassy behav
ior in the whole low-temperature region up to a few K.
