Abstract
The propagation of surface elastic waves in an anisotropic inhomogeneo us medium modelled by two vertically inhomogeneous anisotropic quarter -spaces and a thick vertically inhomogeneous anisotropic layer welded between the quarter-spaces is considered. The Green's function techniq ue is applied to derive a set of equations for determination of scatte ring coefficients of the layer. Numerical results of Rayleigh-wave sca ttering by anisotropic versus isotropic layers are presented and discu ssed.
