J. Feyertag et al., THE EFFECT OF ORAL MAGNESIUM SUPPLEMENTAT ION ON VENTRICULAR ARRHYTHMIAS AND PARAMETERS OF MAGNESIUM-METABOLISM, Magnesium-Bulletin, 17(3), 1995, pp. 86-90
The aim of the study was to evaluate the role of an oral magnesium sup
plementation in patients after myocardial infarction concerning the ap
pearence of ventricular extrasystoles (LOWN classification). Therefore
a randomized, placebo controlled double blind study with 40 patients
after myocardial infarction was performed. The participants received a
daily oral magnesium supplementation (15 mmol mg-citrate) or a placeb
o during 3 weeks. The results show no change in the mg status of the u
rine and blood Mg-values, but a significant decrease of extrasystoles.
