K. Morigaki et al., THE IN-SITU ANALYSIS OF INTERFACIAL REACTIONS BETWEEN ELECTRODE AND ORGANIC ELECTROLYTES I - REDUCTION OF ELECTROLYTES AT CU ELECTRODE, Denki Kagaku Oyobi Kogyo Butsuri Kagaku, 66(8), 1998, pp. 824-830
We developed in situ FTIR and AFM measurements for the analysis of int
erfacial phenomena between electrode and the organic electrolytes. Two
methods of FTIR measurements, IRAS and DMFTIR were conducted for the
analysis of interface between Cu electrode and EC-based electrolytes.
The IRAS spectra indicate changes of the species mainly occur in the b
ulk phase, while the DMFTIR spectra indicated changes of the surface s
pecies mainly occur at the electrode. It was found that the solvent is
reduced into various products both in IRAS spectra and in DMFTIR spec
tra. Cu electrode was found to have morphologically changed into small
particles at the first cathodic polarization in AFM measurements.
