Abstract
We have performed numerical simulations of the quantum mechanical tran sport and corresponding wavefunctions in square quantum dots. In order to obtain a better understanding of the role of leads in transport, w e examine the conductance as a function of both magnetic field and ene rgy for two different lead configurations and compare these results wi th a 'closed' dot connected to the external environment by two tunnell ing barriers.
