Abstract
The C1s core photoelectron shakeup spectrum of C60 has been studied ex perimentally and theoretically. It is found that the lowest shakeup sa tellites correspond to global charge-transfer excitations which move c harge from the opposite side of the fullerene cage to the core-hole re gion, while more localized excitations give rise to higher-energy sate llites. This finding is in accord with a generalized version of the Ma han-Nozieres-de Dominicis model of core excitation, in which a local d ielectric response is included with the original adiabatic contributio n.
