Abstract
An analysis is made of the focusing by a spherical Luneberg lens compo sed of discrete dielectric cubes with different permittivities. Geomet ric-optics calculations are used to determine the degree of focusing o f rays by a lens consisting of 2600 cubes. It is shown that the degree of focusing is considerably inferior to that obtained for a continuou s distribution of epsilon. (C) 1998 American Institute of Physics.
