Abstract
A combination of NaBH4 and alumina preloaded with a small amount of wa ter is a highly efficient reducing agent for cycloalkanones, substitut ed cyclohexanones and unsaturated and aromatic ketones in hexane, affo rding the corresponding alcohols in excellent yields under mild condit ions (20-60 degrees C).
