The binding energy of a bound polaron in a quasi-two-dimensional stron
g coupling polar material has been researched by employing a two-param
eter trial wave function in the Landau-Pekar variational theory. The b
inding energy was obtained as a function of the width of the material
as well as the position of the Coulomb impurity. It decreases quickly
and approaches that of the three-dimensional structure when the well w
idth increases. A discussion on the dimensional properties of the mate
rials has also been given based on the electron wave function. (C) 199
