The solar wind is known to be a turbulent medium. Further on observati
onal evidence reveals a high degree of Alfvenicity of the fluctuations
at least for the fast solar wind and also the existence of nonlinear
two-dimensional turbulent interactions which contribute to solar wind
fluctuations [Tu, C.-Y. and Marsch, E., Space Science Rev. 73, No. 1-2
(1995)]. To understand fluctuations which are existing in the solar w
ind one has to study the behavior of nonlinear drift Alfven waves in m
ulti-ion plasmas. For this reason we investigate the propagation of Al
ven vortices in multi-ion plasmas. Vortices are structures of at leat
two-dimensions which is also needed to understand turbulent motion. Al
fven vortices were already applied to explain the observed phenomena i
n the ionosphere and magnetosphere [Chmyrev, V. M. et al, Physica Scri
pta 38, 841 (1988)]. The aim of the present work is to find the connec
tion between the formation of Alfven vortices and the turbulent behavi
or of the solar wind.
