NEW ASPECTS ON NONLINEAR LANDAU DAMPING

Recently a new description of nonlinear Landau damping, applicable to wave propagation in a weakly collisional as well as collisionless plas ma, has been presented. The results in that work are extended in order to give a more detailed picture of the long term evolution. It is con cluded that collisions cannot be negligible more than 10-20 bounce tim es, even for a very low collision frequency.
