The modification of the Alfven resonance absorption mechanism due to t
he presence of charged dust grains is considered Damping due to the ch
arging of the grains is included, and it is shown that a dissipative s
hort-wavelength made exists close to the resonant frequency. Resonance
absorption of a wave launched into a density gradient where resonance
is encountered will occur via mode conversion into the dissipative mo
de with subsequent strong dissipation.
