The 2D phase transition of thymine, uracil, guanine and coumarin, adso
rbed at the Hg electrode/aqueous solution interface, is rationalised o
n the basis of the model proposed in Part 1, J. Chem. Sec., Faraday Tr
ans., 1994, 90, 2925. The results together with that obtained for aden
ine, are compared with the relevant quantities calculated by using mol
ecular descriptors (dipole moments and polarizabilities). Finally, a v
alue of the standard eathalpy phase-transition variation, averaged ove
r the results collected for the five compounds is estimated and discus
sed.
