S. Abrantes et al., DETERMINATION OF EXTRACTABLE BIOCIDES IN PAPER FOOD-PACKAGING MATERIALS USING MICELLAR ELECTROKINETIC CHROMATOGRAPHY, The Journal of microcolumn separations, 10(5), 1998, pp. 387-391
Capillary electrophoresis methodology has successfully been developed
for the determination of six biocide substances in aqueous media follo
wing extraction from food contact paper and board. The procedure devel
oped is rapid and simple and uses nontoxic reagents. Limits of detecti
on were found to range between 125 and 1275 mg/kg paper, equating to 0
.02-0.29 mg/dm(2) surface area. Recoveries ranged between 53 and 114%.
The methodology is capable of determining biocide concentrations at o
r below current legislative limits. (C) 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
