Abstract
The largest boron carbonitride (BCN) rods of about 20 mu m in diameter and 100 mu m in length are synthesized on molybdenum substrates by bi as-assisted hot-filament chemical vapor deposition. These rods with fu ll-hollow or part-solid insides are composed of many small crystalline particles shown by scanning electron microscopy. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and energy dispersive X-ray analysis are used to confirm their chemical composition and atomic-level hybrid. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
