J. Cardona et F. Cristancho, ORDER-STATISTICS AS IT TOOL FOR ANALYZING CONTINUUM GAMMA-DECAY SPECTRA, Acta physica Hungarica. Heavy ion physics, 7(3-4), 1998, pp. 305-312
The capacity of Order Statistics to predict the shape of Energy-Ordere
d Spectra (EOS) from continuum gamma decay after heavy ion fusion-evap
oration reactions is studied. It is shown that small computational eff
ort is needed to closely reproduce lengthy Monte Carlo simulations. Ad
ditionally, these results strongly suggest that by using the EOS techn
ique one should be able to experimentally distinguish between two diff
erent formulations for the level density: Fermi Gas and Constant Tempe
rature Fermi Gas.
