Abstract
Following an extended chiral drug screening program by capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE), the enantioseparation of 86 racemic drugs was t ested with gamma-cyclodextrin as a chiral solvating agent. Unified con ditions were applied to all experiments. In total, 18 drug racemates w ere separated, 13 entries thereof that had not been separated at the l ower CSA concentration applied in an earlier stage of the project. A c omparison of the data with the results obtained for alpha- and beta-cy clodextrin points to the significance of partial penetration (''side-o n binding'') of aryl groups into the cyclodextrin cavity.
