Schrodinger's equation may be obtained from the statistical mechanics
of random walks, without recourse to guided diffusion. Although quantu
m mechanics does not follow from this particular result, the exercise
of deriving Schrodinger's equation in a context where it has an unambi
guous microscopic model provides some insight into more phenomenologic
al approaches. Brownian motion in time is discussed asa possible bridg
