Motivated by some recent work in physics and astronomy, this paper pre
sents a class of nonlinear models for time. These models retain the ad
vantages of the standard linear model in that all of the known propert
ies of time are shared by them. However, their non-linearity enables u
s to give a new interpretation of some well-known astronomical observa
