The influence of Pd, Pt, Rh, and Ir on the behavior of selenium in a g
raphite furnace during the determination by electrothermal atomic abso
rption spectrometry is studied. It is demonstrated that the loss of se
lenium at the pyrolysis stage is proportional to the melting temperatu
re of the platinum-group metal employed as the chemical modifier.
