Abstract
An alternative, nonelectric method of preparing a dense radiating plas ma is investigated, and the possibility is studied of using this metho d for pumping solid-state lasers. The plasma is generated by heating a working gas in a two-stage ballistic plasma generator. A novel device , namely, a vortex chamber, is suggested for transmitting energy in th e plasma generator-laser system.
