Abstract
A drape algorithm for a torispherical shape was developed and used to predict the distortion of woven fabric and its influence on the last p ly failure load in externally pressurized composite dome closures. Two 50-ply carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic domes were manufactured and co llapsed. Progressive failure analysis was carried out and comparisons with experimental data are provided.
