Abstract
The 'Mishing' or 'Miri' tribe is confined to remote areas of Upper Ass am. In various social functions and festivals country liquors (Apong a nd Photika) form an indispensable-part of social life of the Mishings. Apong is basically prepared by fermenting boiled rice and Photika is prepared by fermenting molasses.
