As a new borane source for hydroboration, borane-1-trimethylsilylpiper
idine (1) was synthesized from the reaction of diborane with 1-trimeth
ylsilylpiperidine. The molecular structure of 1 was unambiguously dete
rmined by a combination of H-1, C-13 and B-11 NMR spectra and X-ray si
ngle crystal analysis. X-ray crystallographic data for 1: Orthorhombic
Pnma (#62), a = 6.4476(6) Angstrom, b = 10.503(1) Angstrom, c = 6.058
