PERIPHERAL-BLOOD STEM-CELL MOBILIZATION WITH GRANULOCYTE-COLONY-STIMULATING FACTOR AND A HARVESTING PROCEDURE IN PEDIATRIC DONORS

The safety of injecting healthy donors with granulocyte colony-stimula ting factor (G-CSF) has not been established, To evaluate PBSC mobiliz ation and harvesting efficacy in the pediatric population, we compared it with those in adult donors. In this study, we conclude that PBSC m obilization and harvesting protocol in normal pediatric donors can be performed safely and effectively. Considering the lower frequency of s ide-effects and WBC counts, and G-CSF kinetics, higher dose of G-CSF w ould be recommended when small children become donors for adult patien ts.
