Abstract
The distribution of the most frequent family names was analyzed in fiv e raions of the Marii El republic, and diagrams of their genetic lands cape were constructed. Based on the diagrams, conclusions were drawn r egarding the genetic subdivision of the corresponding populations and the boundary between elementary populations within them.
