A new method of statistical analysis of a complex metameric organism i
s described. The method is based on logical decision functions. This m
ethod makes it possible to analyze the variation of characters within
an organism and to reveal statistical relationships reflecting the cha
racteristics of its metameric structure. While most traditional algori
thms deal with the characteristics of an organism as a whole, the sugg
ested algorithm also takes into account the characteristics of all con
stituent elements. This allows more fundamental statistical relationsh
ips to be revealed. The method may be used in a wide range of genetic
and other biological studies to analyze the behavior of the object stu
died and to predict its properties.
