Abstract
We describe here a method for coating electrode surfaces with electroa ctive films by electroreductive precipitation of soluble polymers, syn thesized by electrooxidative or photoredox polymerization of polypyrid yl ruthenium(II) complexes substituted by pyrrole groups. The redox be haviour of the resulting film modified electrodes is strongly dependen t on the size and the lipophilic properties of the ions of the support ing electrolyte. This appears to be a consequence of their permeation through the films to maintain electroneutrality in the polymers. (C) 1 998 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
