Abstract
This monograph is intended to help clinicians understand the concept o f mean percent reductions provided by statin monotherapy and to operat ionalize this concept in treating individual patients. It seeks to ans wer the following question: Given the percent reduction in LDL-C that a patient requires and the LDL-C reductions provided by specific stati ns, how likely is it that the minimum NCEP LDL-C treatment goals will be met? A tool for use in determining the probability of a patient rea ching his or her NCEP LDL-C goal based on the efficacy of a given prod uct in reducing LDL-C will be presented.
