Abstract
The reaction of imidazole with benzoyl chloride in pyridine afforded c is-1,2-bis(benzoylamino)ethylene (1) rather than 2-benzoylimidazole, a s has been suggested previously. The structure of 1 was confirmed by H -1 NMR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction study.
