K. Ennser et al., INFLUENCE OF NONIDEAL CHIRPED FIBER GRATING CHARACTERISTICS ON DISPERSION CANCELLATION, IEEE photonics technology letters, 10(10), 1998, pp. 1476-1478
The effect of nonideal dispersion and reflection characteristics of ch
irped fiber gratings on the performance of 10-Gb/s nonreturn-to-zero-t
ransmission systems operating over standard fiber is investigated. The
system penalty for different amplitude and period ripples are quantif
ied. Analyses of an experimental grating confirm that current fabricat
ion technology can meet the requirements for < 1-dB-penalty operation.
