THE RADIOACTIVITY MEASUREMENT OF TURKISH LIGNITES

This is a study on the radioactivity of Turkish lignites in which the gamma spectrometric technique has been used for the determination of a ctivity levels of naturally occurring radionuclides U-238, Th-232, K-4 0, Ra-226 and fallout radionuclides Cs-137 and Cs-134 in lignites take n from 12 different parts of Turkey by the Mineral Research and Explor ation Institute of Turkey. Concentrations of U-238, Th-232, Ra-226, K- 40, Cs-137 and Cs-134 were found up to 52, 37, 207, 163 Bq kg(-1), LLD , ND, respectively. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved .
