M. Lubbe et al., STUDY OF CVD DIAMOND C(100) BY X-RAY-ABSORPTION SPECTROSCOPIES, Fresenius' journal of analytical chemistry, 361(6-7), 1998, pp. 602-604
Surface sensitive x-ray absorption fine structure measurements were ca
rried out near the carbon K-edge on chemical vapor deposited (CVD) dia
mond and natural diamond. Utilizing different methods, namely near edg
e and extended x-ray absorption fine structure measurements (NEXAFS an
d EXAFS), features were found in the spectra which were attributed to
non-diamond coordination fractions, such as bulk C-H bonds, graphite-l
ike and more diamond-like coordinated amorphous carbon domains. Both t
echniques show that the non-diamond fractions consist mainly of diamon
d-like amorphous carbon.
