Abstract
The effect of quinalphos (25 EC) and cypermethrin (10 EC) on the activ ity of glucose-6-phosphatase in liver and kidney of a freshwater teleo st, Notopterus notopterus has been studied. Fish exposed to 1.48 mg/l of quinalphos and 0.016 mg/l of cypermethrin (96 h LC50) for the perio d of 24, 48 and 72 h, it was observed that cypermethrin and quinalphos act sharply on the activity of this enzyme. It decreased significantl y in both tissues of test fish. This inhibition was found to be dose a nd duration dependent and may be due to uncoupling of phosphorylation.
