CLINICAL PERSPECTIVE OF HELICOBACTER-PYLORI INFECTION

The goal of this chapter is to describe briefly the clinical condition s now known to be associated with Helicobacter pylori infection and to review briefly the evidence that this is a causal relationship. This will provide the background necessary for an understanding of common d iagnostic criteria, mechanisms of pathogenesis and effective managemen t strategies described in later chapters.
