Gi. Ivakin et al., PREPARATION OF THIN CRYSTALLINE FILMS OF ORGANIC-COMPOUNDS BY THE LANGMUIR-BLODGETT TECHNIQUE, Crystallography reports, 43(2), 1998, pp. 317-319
Preparation of specimens for transmission electron microscopy and elec
tron diffraction by the Langmuir technique is reported. Thin crystalli
ne films of nonpolar organic compounds [paraffin and tetra(alkanoyloxy
)hydroquinone] are obtained and studied as examples. The Langmuir tech
nique has advantages over the well-established methods used in prepara
tion of thin organic crystalline films, because it allows the control
of thickness, yields textured films with a better orientation of the t
exture axis, and results in a high homogeneity of the specimen obtaine
d.
