Specific structural features of the Langmuir-Blodgett films of cadmium
and lead stearates are studied by high-energy electron diffraction. I
t is found that deposition of the films of steatic acid salts gives ri
se to the ''hexagonal orientations'' of crystalline domains in the pla
ne of the film layer. This phenomenon is related to the [0.2] and [1.1
] specific directions arising upon crystallization of the two-dimensio
nal crystal lattice in the monolayer.
