Single crystals with the composition close to RM3O8 (R = Rb, Cs; M = N
h, Ta) are grown by spontaneous crystallization in the R2O-M2O5-B2O3 s
ystems, and their structural, electrical, optical, and some other prop
erties are studied. Crystals are centrosymmetric, trigonal, sp. gr. R
(3) over bar m. They exhibit no phase transitions in the range from ro
om temperature to 900 degrees C and have a rather high electrical cond
uctivity (similar to 10(-5) Omega(-1) cm(-1)) as compared to typical d
ielectrics.
