We present a comparative analysis of the chromospheric solar limb prol
ateness, using strictly simultaneous H-alpha ground-based observations
and Hen space-based observations. The typical prolateness is found to
be Delta D/D = 5.5 x 10(-3) in Hen and 1.2 x 10(-3) in H-alpha. The f
irst measurements in the 30.4 nm Hen line over a period of two years,
as well as coronal data, are discussed to explore further the origin o
f the prolateness and its possible consequences.
