Abstract
Optical absorption spectra in the single crystals of layered bismuth t itanate exhibit singularities at 90, 160, and 220 degrees C, which can be attributed to the phase transitions. In the near IR, an absorption band with the peak at 1.7 eV is found. This band is probably related to a small bound polaron with an activation energy of 0.37 eV.
