Yf. Xie et al., ON THE EFFECT OF OPERATING PARAMETERS AND SCREW CONFIGURATION ON RESIDENCE TIME DISTRIBUTION, Journal of reinforced plastics and composites, 17(15), 1998, pp. 1338-1349
An optical on-line residence time distribution (RTD) measurement techn
ique was used in a 50 mm and a 30 mm corotating twin screw extruder to
investigate the influence of operating conditions (throughput, screw
speed) and screw configurations on the RTD. Statistical analysis of ex
perimental results was applied to show the quantitative relation betwe
en operating condition and mean residence time, to analyze the effects
of different screw configurations on the broadness of mixing and to c
ompare their subtle difference.
