Abstract
This system is designed to allow surgical operations under liquid flow . Feasability studies are being undertaken. The operating zone is isol ated from external pollution, while surgeon and assistants are allowed greater comfort, being freed from the burden of aseptic rules. The sy stem allows modifications of the operating surrounding area: aseptic, antiseptic, antibiotic, anaesthaesic or other properties of the flux m ay be allowed. Protection of the surgeon against accidents due to path ogens (VIH and others) due to a continuously cleaned area may be enhan ced this way. Evaluation is performed with two devices. Satisfactory r esults have been obtained with regards to direct operational work, even in microsurgery; accessibility has been considered as generally accep table. However, with the experimental equipment used, it has not been possible to reach efficiency validation where sterility of flowing wat er is concerned.
