Abstract
The anaphase-promoting complex (APC) or cyclosome directs the ubiquiti nation and destruction of proteins that control specific steps in mito sis. Recent studies show that APC activity requires WD40 domain protei ns, and that one of these proteins is part of the checkpoint control t hat ensures accurate chromosome segregation.
