Abstract
Biodegradable poly(lactic acid)-grafted amylose was synthesized using a trimethylsilyl (TMS) protection method. Tehrahydrofuran soluble, mos tly trimethylsilyl protected amylose was prepared and reacted with pot assium tert-butoxide to give the corresponding alkoxide. Poly(lactic a cid)-grafted amyloses were obtained by ring-opening anionic polymeriza tion of lactide using the polymeric alkoxides as initiators and subseq uent removal of the TMS groups. The obtained graft copolymers show bio degradability and a microphase-separated morphology.
