Supercritical carbon dioxide was employed to extract wheat plumule oil
in this study. Effects of pressure, temperature, CO2 solvent flows an
d extraction time on the extraction efficiency were investigated. Thre
e models were set up to describe extraction yield-pressure-temperature
, extraction yield-pressure-solvent flows and extraction yield-pressur
e-extraction time relationships, respectively. A good agreement betwee
n predicted values and experimental values was found. By models the op
timum processing conditions and quasi-equilibrium conditions of extrac
tion systems can be determined. It contributes to the design and scale
-up of process. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Limited. All rights reserved
