Abstract
An unusual Salter type 2 fracture of the distal phalanx is described. The metaphyseal fragment of the fracture consisted of a long and thin plate of bone corresponding to the insertion site of the flexor digito rum profundus tendon. Differences between this combined fracture and t he isolated mallet deformity or flexor profundus tendon avulsion fract ure are discussed.
